Ken Burns' The Civil War Official Website:  Nine Episode DVD Series documenting the course of the entire war.  No other documentary comes close.

 

Students, either currently enrolled or past students, at Arlington Baptist College and taking American History I or II can view this fantastic documentary in full on my website.  Please contact me for the password.  The documentary is split up into two parts: Episodes 1 - 5 and Episodes 6 - 9.

The Civil War: A Narrative by Shelby Foote:  This is an excellent three volume work covering the Civil War in narrative format.  Shelby Foote was a featured historian in Ken Burns' documentary The Civil War.
